🀎George Washington Carver, one of the most prominent black scientists of the early 20th century.❀❀

πŸŽ‡Let’s celebrate George Washington Carver, and his Positive legacy of innovation, creativity and tenacityπŸͺ·

βœ… He was born into slavery in Diamond, Missouri.

βœ… He attended the Iowa Agricultural College (now Iowa State University) as the first African American to enroll there.

βœ… He became a renowned botanist and agronomist, and is best known for his research on the peanut and its many uses.

βœ… Carver developed more than 300 products made from peanuts, including milk, cheese, flour, ink, and soap. He also developed new uses for other crops, such as sweet potatoes and soybeans.

βœ… Carver was a proponent of sustainable agriculture and crop rotation, which helped to revitalize the soil and prevent soil depletion.

βœ… Carver worked as a professor at the Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in Alabama for over 40 years, teaching and conducting research.

βœ… He was a friend and advisor to many famous Americans, including President Theodore Roosevelt and inventor Thomas Edison.

βœ… Carver was posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1990.

βœ… In 1923, Carver was the first African American to receive the Spingarn Medal, awarded annually by the NAACP to honor outstanding achievement by a Black American.

βœ… In 1939, he was awarded the Roosevelt Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Southern Agriculture.

βœ… In 1941, Time magazine named Carver as one of the 10 most outstanding men of the year.
