π€ Being a Positivity Catalyst is being an agent of transformation. Black men and women have done this in all spheres of life but as we round out Black History Month, I find myself drawn to those who have some “spiciness” and “Aunty” Maxine Waters is the epitome of spice!!!
π€ Maxine Waters has a lengthy and significant legacy in American politics, particularly as an advocate for affordable housing, access to healthcare, and financial reform.β€β€
πHer positive legacy as a trailblazer, encourager and outspoken advocate for justice is inspiring. As an African American woman in politics, Waters has broken down barriers and activated a new generation of women of color to enter the political arena. Her life of service and advocacy will continue to inspire future generations of activists and politicians..πͺ·

Maxine Waters was born on August 15, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri.

She attended California State University, Los Angeles, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology.

Waters began her political career in the California State Assembly, where she served from 1977 to 1991.

In 1990, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California's 29th congressional district.

Waters is a member of the Democratic Party and is known for her progressive views.

Waters has served as the Chair of the House Financial Services Committee since 2019.
