๐ŸŽ‡Let’s celebrate President Michelle Albert and her Positive legacy๐Ÿชท

โœ… Dr. Michelle Albert was born in Norfolk, Virginia, USA on June 1, 1962. She spent her early childhood in Guyana๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡พAt the age of fifteen, her family moved to Brooklyn.

โœ… Dr. Albert attended Haverford College, where she studied chemistry and attended University of Rochester Medical School. She has a Masters of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

โœ… After completing her medical residency and chief residency at Columbia University in New York, Albert completed cardiovascular medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

โœ… On July 1, Michelle A. Albert, M.D., MPH, FAHA, became the 86th person and first Black woman to serve as American Heart Association president. (American Heart Association)

โœ… She the recipient of the Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award from the AHA (2016). She received the ACC Heart of Women’s Health Credo Award (2012), Woman’s Day Magazine’s Red Dress Award (2014), the 2018 Daniel D. Savage Science Award (ABC’s highest honor) and the Haverford College Alumni Award (2015) -- given to an alumnus whose “work typifies the values of the college and is of outstanding service to humanity”.

โœ…During the COVID-19 pandemic, Albert studied the impact of COVID-19 on heart health, particularly the heart health of Black women. In the United States, the stress that Black people experience due to everyday discrimination contributes to worse cardiovascular health.

โœ… Dr. Albert is named on the 2022 Forbes 50 over 50 list for her Impact.
